Delivering in 4K

The AI render pipeline produces video at a working resolution (around 1152×864 for a 4:3 clip, or the equivalent for other aspect ratios). The final step to delivery quality is upscaling with Topaz Video AI, a separate application already installed on your machine.

Upscaling a render

  1. Open Topaz Video AI.
  2. Drag your rendered clip (from the Renders tab) into the Topaz window.
  3. Select the NK-Studio preset — it's pre-configured for the pipeline's output resolution and targets 4K.
  4. Click Export. Topaz processes the clip locally; this takes a few minutes depending on clip length.

The exported file is your delivery-quality 4K clip, saved next to the input file with a suffix added to the name.

Delivery format

For campaign delivery the export codec is set to ProRes, profile 422 HQ — the studio preset has this configured, but it's worth double-checking the codec settings in the export window if a file comes out unexpected.

Good to know

  • Topaz runs independently of the studio engine — upscale while the studio is idle, or after rendering is complete.
  • Don't run Topaz during an active render queue. Both are heavy on the graphics card and will fight each other. Render first, upscale after.
